Do you know the detailing about 'Drugs' or 'Medicine' ?

Do you know the detailing about 'Drugs' ?

Drugs are chemicals that interact with the macromolecular targets to produce a biological response.

However, some drugs are also used as a stimulant arising a state of euphoria and can be habit forming leading to addiction.

Drugs are classified into different categories depending on certain criteria like their chemical structure, physical and psychological effects. Drugs affect the nervous system of individuals and create varied responses.

              Pic Credit : Pixabay

Brief classification of drugs based on their physical and psychological effects is given below:

 Analgesics like aspirin reduce pain.

Anti-inflammatory drugs reduce inflammation in the body.

  Antipyretics reduce body temperature.

Depressents are drugs that supress the activity of brain and nerves. These drugs are administered to relieve anxiety and promote sleep.

Stimulants increase the activity of the brain and nervous system making an individual more energetic and ecstactic. They can also make an individual paranoid and induce anger.

Hallucinogens are drugs that act on the central nervous system. They alter the perception of space, time and reality and the individual may start imagining things and situations that are not real.

Opioids are used to treat pain and cough.

Inhalants exist in vapour state at room temperature and are consumed by inhaling

Antibiotics were earlier defined as chemicals produced from microorganisms used to kill or inhibit the growth of other microorganisms. Now since they can be artificially synthesised hence now they are defined as molecules that either kill or inhibit the growth of microorganisms.

Psychoactive drugs affect the functioning of the central nervous system and alter mood, perception and consciousness.

Cannabis is an illicit drug used worldwide as charas, bhang and ganja. There are several other ways of classifying drugs. It should be remembered that most of the drugs serve medicinal purpose only in small quantity and have side effects if consumed in larger quantities. Here we shall discuss two commonly used drugs aspirin and paracetamol.

Aspirin: It is a common drug used to reduce fever (antipyretic) and as an analgesic to relieve pain. Chemically it is acetyl salicylic acid prepared by the reaction of salicylic acid with acetic anhydride.

Paracetamol: It is one of the most common drug used to reduce fever and in the treatment of mild pain like headache, pain in joints, muscles and body pain.It is prepared by the nitration of phenol which gives both ortho and para-nitro phenol. The ortho isomer is removed by steam distillation and the para isomer is reduced to give p-aminophenol which on acetylation gives acetaminophen widely known as paracetamol. Although it causes lesser gastrointestinal side effects as compared to aspirin but overdose of paracetamol causes damage to liver.

When the biological response is therapeutic assisting in the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of a disease it is termed as a medicine.

What is exactly Machine Learning and Data Mining ?

What is the exactly diffence between Machine Learning and Data Mining ??

Machine Learning and Data Mining are closely related fields, but they differ in their focus and methods.

Here are the main differences between these two fields:

 Machine learning:

Machine learning is a subset of artificial intelligence that involves teaching computers to learn from data without being explicitly programmed.

In other words, machine learning algorithms can improve their performance on a task by learning from experience.

Machine learning is used in a wide range of applications, such as image recognition, speech recognition, natural language processing, and predictive analytics.

Data mining:

Data mining is the process of discovering patterns in large datasets using statistical and computational techniques.

Data mining is often used to find correlations and associations between different variables in the data and to identify patterns that can be used for prediction or decision-making.

Data mining can be used in a variety of domains, such as marketing, healthcare, and finance.

If we discuss course point of view :

Machine learning courses typically cover topics such as supervised learning, unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, decision trees, neural networks, and deep learning.

These courses focus on the algorithms and techniques used to train machine learning models, as well as their applications in areas such as computer vision, natural language processing, and predictive analytics.

Data mining courses typically cover topics such as data preprocessing, association rules, clustering, classification, and outlier detection.

These courses focus on the statistical and computational techniques used to discover patterns in large datasets, as well as their applications in areas such as marketing, healthcare, and finance.

Is Human intelligence still relevant in the time of Artificial Intelligence ??

Why we are using Gradient, Divergence and Curl in Mathematics and Physics ?

Why we are using Gradient, Divergence and Curl in Mathematics and Physics ?

Gradient, divergence and curl are mathematical operations that are widely used in physics, particularly in the field of vector calculus.

These operations help to describe various physical quantities in terms of their spatial distribution and how they change over time.

Here are some examples of how these mathematical concepts are used in physics:

1.      Gradient: The gradient of a scalar field (a function that assigns a scalar value to each point in space) describes the direction and magnitude of the maximum rate of change of the scalar field.

In physics, the gradient is often used to describe the direction and magnitude of a force acting on an object, such as the gravitational force or electric field.

2.      Divergence: The divergence of a vector field (a function that assigns a vector to each point in space) describes the rate at which the vector field is expanding or contracting at each point in space.

In physics, the divergence is often used to describe the behavior of a fluid, such as the rate at which mass or energy is flowing into or out of a region of space.

3.      Curl: The curl of a vector field describes the rotation or twisting of the vector field at each point in space.

In physics, the curl is often used to describe the behavior of a magnetic field, such as the motion of charged particles in a magnetic field.

Overall, gradient, divergence, and curl are fundamental mathematical tools that help to describe the physical world in terms of its spatial and temporal variations.

What is the diffrence between Interference and Diffraction ??

Interference and diffraction are both phenomena that occur when waves encounter an obstacle or opening in their path, but they differ in their underlying mechanisms and the patterns they produce.

Interference occurs when two or more waves interact with each other in a region of space. When waves of the same frequency meet, they add together to produce a new wave that has a larger amplitude (constructive interference) or a smaller amplitude (destructive interference) than the individual waves. This creates a pattern of alternating bright and dark fringes, known as an interference pattern.

Diffraction, on the other hand, occurs when waves encounter an obstacle or aperture that is comparable in size to their wavelength. When waves encounter such an obstacle, they bend around it and spread out in all directions. This bending and spreading out of waves is known as diffraction, and it produces a pattern of light and dark bands or fringes that are characteristic of the shape and size of the obstacle or aperture.

In summary,

interference involves the interaction of waves with each other, resulting in the creation of an interference pattern.

Diffraction involves the bending and spreading out of waves around obstacles or apertures, resulting in the creation of a diffraction pattern.

the Science behind Suspension Bridge

the Science behind Suspension Bridge

The heart-wrenching bridge collapse tragedy in Gujarat on Sunday evening, has triggered an outpouring of grief across the country.

In this article, we are just encountering some of the aspects of Suspension Bridge.

What are Suspension Bridge ?

A suspension bridge carries vertical loads through curved cables in tension. These loads are transferred both to the towers, which carry them by vertical compression to the ground, and to the anchorages, which must resist the inward and sometimes vertical pull of the cables.

The suspension bridge can be viewed as an upside-down arch in tension with only the towers in compression. Because the deck is hung in the air, care must be taken to ensure that it does not move excessively under loading. The deck therefore must be either heavy or stiff or both.

Some of the longest Suspension Bridge:

Modern steel alloys are capable of much greater spans, and, since the late 20th century, a number of record-breaking suspension bridges have been built in Asia.

●  Akashi Strait Bridge (1998) : 1,991 metres (6,530 feet) between the island Honshu and Shikoku in Japan.

In 2019 China completed the second and third longest suspension bridges in the world:

●  Yangsigang Yangtze River Bridge : 1,700 metres (5,577 feet) in Wuhan (Hubei),
● Nansha Bridge, spanning 1,688 metres (5,538 feet) in Dongguan.

Do you know, how transformers are cooled ??

Do you know, how transformers are cooled ??

Cooling of Transformer is the process by which heat generated in the transformer is dissipated or treated to the safe value.

The major factor for the generation of heat in the transformer is the various losses like hysteresis, eddy current, iron, and copper loss.
The various coolants used for the cooling purpose of the transformer are air, synthetic oils, mineral oils, gas, water.

When the temperature of the transformer becomes higher as compared to the temperature of the surrounding air, thus by the process of natural convection, heated air is replaced by the cool air. This method is known as a self-cooled method

When the heat generated is cooled by the forced air circulation method with the help of fans and blowers, high velocity of air is forced on the core and the windings of the transformer. This method is known as Forced cooled method.

Why so many engineering graduates are unemployed?

Why so many engineering graduates are unemployed?

This one is the hot question in the current scenario, when the numbers of engineering students are graduating each year. In this article, we encounter this question step by step..

1. Mismatch in interest :
See, engineering is not the only successful career in today's time; there are plenty of career options. So, if you are not interested in any form of engineering, then it's not necessary that you have to choose engineering still.
Secondly thing, you have an interest in any particular kind of engineering, but due to trend or societal pressure you are choosing another engineering option and completing this course with the half interest, then it will not go any where.
See, Engineering is a 4 year course and it has 20+ core oriented subjects and untill you are not enjoying this journey, whether your marks are good or average, but you do not have the learning approach, it will not benefit at all.

2. Mismatch in Practical Approach :
Engineering is a hard core practical thing but problem in most of the engineering college is that they focus on just theory and theory. Untill the theory is matched with the practical, what's the benefit is ?

See, for example you have learnt each and everything about the cycle, how it handle works, how brakes and paddle works,  parts of the cycle, etc but never saw in laboratory or in real world. In this case you have to cram all the theories in your mind just to write down in the examination.

3. Mismatch in Course Syllabus and Market requirements
This whole 4 year journey change its path from start to end because the market is changing so rapidly. We have to clear our mind that we are not living in industrial age; now it's an information age. When you enter in the course, something is relevant in market and suppose you expertise in that skill but in the 4 year duration of course, gradually it becomes irrelevant and out of market and now something new is in trending. So we have to be fast paced with the changing market requirements as well as our course syllabus should be engaged the foundation subjects and trending topics or subjects.

Hope, you all like this article, if you have some another questions or queries, you may ask in the comment section.

Difference between Engineering and Technology

What is the difference between Engineering and Technology ??

It's quite possible that you may confuse between Engineering and Technology that both are same or different. They are looking like the same thing but has a fine line difference.

      Let's discuss on it --
Difference between Engineering and Technology

Engineering and Technology are two so related terms that some times it confuses.
They are closely related but not the same.

Engineering can be defined as “the profession in which a knowledge of the mathematics and  science gained by study, experience, and practice is applied with judgment to develop ways to utilize economically the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of mankind.

In a simpler tone we can say that Engineering is a kind of practical science where we utilise different kind of materials on basis of their properties, develop a process and try to obtain a product.

Computer Science (CS) or Information Technology (IT) !!! Which is better engineering stream ??
Technology can be defined as “the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society and the environment.”

In a simpler tone we can say that Technology is a kind of process where we develop a kind of product based upon material properties, process complexities and economical aspects.

So in short,
• Engineering is the mind and effort into making something.
•Technology is the result of application of this mind and effort.

So, at last finally we can say that,
Available technology is used to engineer more advanced technology.

Which should I opt in between Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering ??

Biotechnology and it's Scope in 2022

At the time of selection of college and streams, if you are confused which stream should be chosen...if it will be right option or not...if it has future or not...
Then we are here to discuss about some engineering option one by one in our blog...
So, in this article we are going to discuss about Biotechnology..

Biotechnology is everywhere, it helps us to improve our lives and leads us to a healthier world. It is an inclusion of Chemistry with Biology. This field is highly research oriented, vast and diverse and  still developing in our country, so you can get it's full advantage in upcoming future.
At present, there are numbers of research institutes conducting research on Cancer, Stem cell, Genetics etc. Other than that there are numbers of Pharma companies for example Cipla, Candila, Ranbaxy etc where there is a plenty of need.

If you need any further guidance or help or any engineering subjects classes we are here to assist you..

But,
Always keep in mind whatever stream you are choosing, it should be in your character. Don't just blindly follow the friends, siblings or society because finally you have to go with that stream in next 4 years course duration and afterthat.
