Why we are using Gradient, Divergence and Curl in Mathematics and Physics ?

Why we are using Gradient, Divergence and Curl in Mathematics and Physics ?

Gradient, divergence and curl are mathematical operations that are widely used in physics, particularly in the field of vector calculus.

These operations help to describe various physical quantities in terms of their spatial distribution and how they change over time.

Here are some examples of how these mathematical concepts are used in physics:

1.      Gradient: The gradient of a scalar field (a function that assigns a scalar value to each point in space) describes the direction and magnitude of the maximum rate of change of the scalar field.

In physics, the gradient is often used to describe the direction and magnitude of a force acting on an object, such as the gravitational force or electric field.

2.      Divergence: The divergence of a vector field (a function that assigns a vector to each point in space) describes the rate at which the vector field is expanding or contracting at each point in space.

In physics, the divergence is often used to describe the behavior of a fluid, such as the rate at which mass or energy is flowing into or out of a region of space.

3.      Curl: The curl of a vector field describes the rotation or twisting of the vector field at each point in space.

In physics, the curl is often used to describe the behavior of a magnetic field, such as the motion of charged particles in a magnetic field.

Overall, gradient, divergence, and curl are fundamental mathematical tools that help to describe the physical world in terms of its spatial and temporal variations.

What is the diffrence between Interference and Diffraction ??

Interference and diffraction are both phenomena that occur when waves encounter an obstacle or opening in their path, but they differ in their underlying mechanisms and the patterns they produce.

Interference occurs when two or more waves interact with each other in a region of space. When waves of the same frequency meet, they add together to produce a new wave that has a larger amplitude (constructive interference) or a smaller amplitude (destructive interference) than the individual waves. This creates a pattern of alternating bright and dark fringes, known as an interference pattern.

Diffraction, on the other hand, occurs when waves encounter an obstacle or aperture that is comparable in size to their wavelength. When waves encounter such an obstacle, they bend around it and spread out in all directions. This bending and spreading out of waves is known as diffraction, and it produces a pattern of light and dark bands or fringes that are characteristic of the shape and size of the obstacle or aperture.

In summary,

interference involves the interaction of waves with each other, resulting in the creation of an interference pattern.

Diffraction involves the bending and spreading out of waves around obstacles or apertures, resulting in the creation of a diffraction pattern.

Conventional Engineering Course and their huge scope in Future

Conventional Engineering Course and their huge scope in future

In this article, we are going to discuss about the traditional or conventional engineering courses which are still in moderate demand and will always be in demand.

● 1. Mechanical Engineering :
Mechanical Engineering is very old and relevant engineering stream although it is not so fashionable according to today's trends but it was, is and will be always in moderate demand.
Mechanical engineering contain very diverse field, after completing your 4 years B.E./B.Tech course or 3 years Diploma course, your doors are opened for as a --
   • Production Engineer
   • Maintenance Engineer
   • Automobile Engineer
   • Project Engineer

Read in full detail at here : Scope of Mechanical Engineering in 2022-23

● 2. Civil Engineering :
Civil Engineering is a widely structured discipline or you can say engineering stream to study the concept of design, construct and maintain the infrastructure systems and projects whether it's a bridge, highway or a building.
You have a series of government and private sectors in your line-up,
For example :
   • PWD,
   • ONGC,
   • NHAI
          etc...

You may read in detail at here : Scope of Civil Engineering in 2022-23

● 3. Electrical Engineering
Electrical engineering is a promising career option for young professionals as there are literally thousands of job opportunities available in the field.                     Electrical engineers focus on the study of the physics and mathematics of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. They apply this knowledge to design, develop, produce, and work to improve every kind of electrical equipment imaginable.

But
Always keep in mind whatever stream you are choosing, it should be in your character. Don't just blindly follow the friends, siblings or society because finally you have to go with that stream in next 4 years course duration and after that.

the Science behind Suspension Bridge

the Science behind Suspension Bridge

The heart-wrenching bridge collapse tragedy in Gujarat on Sunday evening, has triggered an outpouring of grief across the country.

In this article, we are just encountering some of the aspects of Suspension Bridge.

What are Suspension Bridge ?

A suspension bridge carries vertical loads through curved cables in tension. These loads are transferred both to the towers, which carry them by vertical compression to the ground, and to the anchorages, which must resist the inward and sometimes vertical pull of the cables.

The suspension bridge can be viewed as an upside-down arch in tension with only the towers in compression. Because the deck is hung in the air, care must be taken to ensure that it does not move excessively under loading. The deck therefore must be either heavy or stiff or both.

Some of the longest Suspension Bridge:

Modern steel alloys are capable of much greater spans, and, since the late 20th century, a number of record-breaking suspension bridges have been built in Asia.

●  Akashi Strait Bridge (1998) : 1,991 metres (6,530 feet) between the island Honshu and Shikoku in Japan.

In 2019 China completed the second and third longest suspension bridges in the world:

●  Yangsigang Yangtze River Bridge : 1,700 metres (5,577 feet) in Wuhan (Hubei),
● Nansha Bridge, spanning 1,688 metres (5,538 feet) in Dongguan.

Do you know, how transformers are cooled ??

Do you know, how transformers are cooled ??

Cooling of Transformer is the process by which heat generated in the transformer is dissipated or treated to the safe value.

The major factor for the generation of heat in the transformer is the various losses like hysteresis, eddy current, iron, and copper loss.
The various coolants used for the cooling purpose of the transformer are air, synthetic oils, mineral oils, gas, water.

When the temperature of the transformer becomes higher as compared to the temperature of the surrounding air, thus by the process of natural convection, heated air is replaced by the cool air. This method is known as a self-cooled method

When the heat generated is cooled by the forced air circulation method with the help of fans and blowers, high velocity of air is forced on the core and the windings of the transformer. This method is known as Forced cooled method.

Why so many engineering graduates are unemployed?

Why so many engineering graduates are unemployed?

This one is the hot question in the current scenario, when the numbers of engineering students are graduating each year. In this article, we encounter this question step by step..

1. Mismatch in interest :
See, engineering is not the only successful career in today's time; there are plenty of career options. So, if you are not interested in any form of engineering, then it's not necessary that you have to choose engineering still.
Secondly thing, you have an interest in any particular kind of engineering, but due to trend or societal pressure you are choosing another engineering option and completing this course with the half interest, then it will not go any where.
See, Engineering is a 4 year course and it has 20+ core oriented subjects and untill you are not enjoying this journey, whether your marks are good or average, but you do not have the learning approach, it will not benefit at all.

2. Mismatch in Practical Approach :
Engineering is a hard core practical thing but problem in most of the engineering college is that they focus on just theory and theory. Untill the theory is matched with the practical, what's the benefit is ?

See, for example you have learnt each and everything about the cycle, how it handle works, how brakes and paddle works,  parts of the cycle, etc but never saw in laboratory or in real world. In this case you have to cram all the theories in your mind just to write down in the examination.

3. Mismatch in Course Syllabus and Market requirements
This whole 4 year journey change its path from start to end because the market is changing so rapidly. We have to clear our mind that we are not living in industrial age; now it's an information age. When you enter in the course, something is relevant in market and suppose you expertise in that skill but in the 4 year duration of course, gradually it becomes irrelevant and out of market and now something new is in trending. So we have to be fast paced with the changing market requirements as well as our course syllabus should be engaged the foundation subjects and trending topics or subjects.

Hope, you all like this article, if you have some another questions or queries, you may ask in the comment section.
